The feng shui way of looking at the world, gives you a set of important tools that can be applied in very practical ways. This begins with a very important aspect of your life, the place where you live. Of course, as I mentioned before classical feng shui is a very complex subject and involves a lot of formulas, compass reading, observation, floor-plans, google earth picture of the place and much more. What we are talking about now are very simple and down to earth tips that everyone is able to use.

Let me start with an interesting part now. To a feng shui practitioner, the first thing to consider is the impact of the actual location. We say location, location, location. It is very important the location of your house, what is it around the house and also the neighbourhood area. In fact, we’re looking for beautiful mountains, rivers, sea, ponds, lakes. You may ask why that is so important. These features are considered very positive in feng shui. There are other elements to it, but that would be a very advance knowledge and requires studying professionally. What you need to do at this stage is just to remember that those features are auspicious.

If you can see them in a distance, from the window of your home that is even better. Have a look at those beautiful pictures and you can get an idea what you need if you are looking to buy a house with good feng shui potential. Now, those who don’t have these features near their home, and do not even have them in their area, please do not worry! You can still do plenty of things in your home that can improve everyone’s life.

Remember this – if you see beautiful scenery when you open your front door it is already a good start for practicing feng shui.

The front door is a very important part of the whole house. In feng shui we call the front door the mouth where the most important chi (living energy) comes into the house. That chi will affect the whole house, every single room and everyone who lives in that house. If that chi is negative it may bring health issues, mishaps and other problems. If the chi is positive it will improve life. Let’s say when you open the front door to the outside and the first thing you see is one of these features – ugly building, construction site, big walls, mess, litter, broken things, this will invite a negative energy into your home.

On the other hand if you see good positive features such as water, a park, beautiful flowers, trees, a nice curved path – this has a vital energy which will come into your home and bring only positivity.

At the end of the day we always need to be positive in order to attract more positivity in our lives. I know, sometimes it can be a bit challenging but if you train yourself to work on your attitude, it can bring nice surprises into your life. Your home is a very important part and it absolutely must be filled with things that make you happy. To achieve that, we should try to fill the home with good energy and we can start doing that by making the front of the house clean, tidy, beautiful and welcoming. Never keep rubbish in front of the main door or by the front door! That is an absolutely a big NO. The same rule applies for the hall of your house. It should be spacious and clean as this is the first area you step into when you get home. You do not want to see litter there. If you have enough space in you hall, you can place a very nice green tall plant by the entrance. This is a positive element by the front door.

As you can see we pay a great deal of attention to the entrance of the house. Very small changes can make a big difference.

Keep checking us weekly we are coming with more interesting tips and suggestions.
